Installation
In the past few years, battery storage installations having accelerated to become a main stream solution for reducing energy costs. You can include them along with a solar system either as a Hybrid, DC coupled system, or retrofitting an AC coupled system which is separate to the solar system and can be a standalone battery solution.
The benefits of battery storage vary from application. When combined with solar panels, they will capture surplus electricity normally exported to the grid, store it and discharge it when you need it. This provides you with greater independence from the grid and maximises the benefits of having solar panels.
With both DC coupled and AC coupled systems, you can utilise energy suppliers cheaper off-peak tariffs to charge your batteries for less and discharge to power your home with off-peak energy during peak times. With solar systems this is particular beneficial in the winter months when solar production is lower due to shorter days and more intermittent weather, and with or without solar, its beneficial all year round.
