A heat pumps main function is a refrigerant system. Using either Air or the Ground as a source of heat, the heat is absorbed into the refrigerant gas within the heat pump, it runs through a compressor which essentially increases the temperature by increasing the pressure, transfers the heat generated into water which then circulates through your radiators, underfloor heating and Hot water tank to provide heating. It sounds complicated but is a relatively simple, tried, and tested heating solution that has been around for many years. We have many happy and warm customers who can confirm this!

Yes, a heat pump system can be designed for all applications. If a system is designed right, installed right it will work right. It is not a simple case of replacing a boiler with a heat pump, the systems are very similar in operation, however careful design is needed to ensure pipework and radiators are sufficiently sized to maintain a properties heat loss. Yes, providing the radiators are sufficiently sized to maintain the rooms heat loss, they will work perfectly well.

At present the Government have a £7500 grant towards the cost of a heat pump installation. Heat pumps also benefit from 0% VAT so total cosats are very similar to that of replacing your boiler for new.

Battery storage systems do exactly what you think, they store electricity. System functionality vary slightly depending on circumstance however in summary you can store surplus energy generated from solar systems to use later, and you can also charge up batteries from suppliers cheap “off-peak” energy tariffs to power your house for much cheaper than “peak rate” electricity.

Batteries are not “one size fits all”, everyone uses electricity slightly differently. Battery size will be dependent on the amount of electricity you use and when you use it. We can provide advice on battery capacity with this information.

This will depend on the battery manufacturers installation guidelines, different manufacturers have different guidance however there is nearly always a suitable place to install them, indoors or out.
